My Research

I research children’s literature and am particularly interested in the relationship between female identity, space and place. My MPhil thesis – “A Space to Be Herself: Locating Girlhood in Children’s Literature” – explored this intersection, whilst my PhD shall look towards exploring the impact of the fictionalised female pre-adolescent body upon real world young girls.

Related to this, I am also passionate about literary space and place. I map the locations of real world children’s books, exploring the dynamic between fictionalised place and real world place, whilst also engaging in the rich tradition of literary tourism in the United Kingdom.

You can find out more about my research on my dedicated blog Big Boots And Adventures. I’d love to see you there!
