I know it’s not a book, but this is an amazing bag from Hot Key & Picadilly. They Get It.
I have been at The Federation of Children’s Book Groups conference over the weekend – you can catch up on Tweets here. It was quite the thing. One of the highlights for me was the Publishers’ Exhibition whereby you can catch up with lovely people and find out all about their new titles. I thought I’d share some of the things that caught my eye with you in a slide show below…
I have some proofs of some amazing titles to share as well – I’ll be reviewing these over the next few weeks before sending them off to my librarian friends. Just to give you an idea of some of the titles, I’ll be featuring (she says, all nonchalant like) they include: ‘One’ by Sarah Crossan, ‘The Wolf Wilder’ by Katherine Rundell and ‘Me and Mr J’ by Rachel McIntyre.
And finally I have to share this piece of news with you all … (I’ll let you imagine how big a shriek of joy I had to stifle upon hearing this…)
Dave Shelton's next project is set in a 1950s girl's boarding school….! #FCBG15 *insert partisan shriek of joy here*

PENGUINS. (Loved the playfulness of this.) Out now!
This is just perfect. Hard, almost ‘board-book’ edges, covered in doodles and fun and life. Really appealing. Out now!
This is such an approachable book. Loved the feel of it. Published June 4th 2014 by Hot Key.
I have a lot of time for Lean’s gentle, heartfelt and heartwarming prose. This is out now.
It’s hard to convey in an image but these front covers are perfect. So perfect. They’d be a glorious gift.
Finally, I get to see this! I’ve been recommended it by @yayeahyeah and though I’ve not read it yet, it has perfect blurb: “There’s a murderer on the loose—but that doesn’t stop the girls of St. Etheldreda’s from attempting to hide the death of their headmistress in this rollicking farce”
Loved this. Sensitive, funny and *kind*. Think ‘The Parent Trap’ meets Judy Blume (oh I suck at comparisons, but basically he’s adopted and he hires a ‘fake Stanley’ to play him when his birth mother gets back in touch…) Out now!
This is a book which screams to be read out loud. It’s a bit odd, a bit different and a bit brilliant. I loved it. Another one from Andersen and it’s out October.
Anne wrote Girl with a White Dog – and this is her next book from Catnip. I’m sold on the cover (and on Anne’s quietly lovely writing)
I reviewed ‘Starring Kitty’ recently and this is from the same series. I have a lot of time for Stainton’s generous and charming work, and have my fingers crossed for this.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Or, to translate, this is Katherine Rundell’s new novel…) Out September.
Listening to Crossan talk about her work was a delight. Hearing her read it was perfect. This is a book about conjoined twins and delivered in Crossan’s haunting blank verse. Out September. Make a note. I predict big things for this.
So thrilled to see new covers for Coram Boy and Cuckoo in the Nest. They both really get the styles of these books!
Satoshi Kitamura’s ‘My Hand’ is a gem. I spent a good while just staring at it. Andersen have some cracking picture book titles at the mo. This is out end of December – it’s worth popping on Christmas lists now!
